Munich, January 15, 2025 – Following a successful management buyout, goetzpartners is now Fortlane Partners.

As part of the buyout, the active management team, together with leading pan-European financing specialist Kartesia, has acquired the business from its founders. This transition marks a shift from a founder-led to a partner-led consultancy, ensures independence, and opens new growth opportunities.

“The new name Fortlane Partners represents both continuity and progress,” explains Axel Meythaler, spokesperson for the management team. “While elements like our branding may change, our values and standards remain. We continue to stand for conceptual and substantive excellence in strategy, M&A, and transformation and keep our integrated advisory portfolio, combining management consulting and corporate finance services.” The Penrose tiles will be retained as the logo, symbolising 30 years of successful advisory work and the belief that even the most complex challenges are rooted in often simple, fundamental structures.

“With Fortlane Partners, we embark on a new chapter with a refreshed visual identity, a strong entrepreneurial foundation, and, most importantly, 150 dedicated minds. This is the optimal foundation for successfully shaping the future jointly with our clients,” adds Gerwin Weidl, Managing Director of Fortlane Partners.

Building on core values such as trusted collaboration, intellectual ambition, a genuine interest in people, and team spirit, Fortlane Partners aims to grow with and for its clients. The transition to a partner-led consultancy and the rebranding to Fortlane Partners establish a solid foundation for this mission.

The strategic thesis was right. The P&L disagrees. Where to look
In private equity, value erosion rarely comes from a fundamentally flawed thesis. More often, the thesis, the priorities, and the operating model simply fail to align — quickly enough, or tightly enough — during the hold period. In tech-enabled industrials, that gap tends to be wider, more persistent, and more expensive to recover from

M&A Industry Snapshot: The European PropTech and ConTech M&A market
The European PropTech and ConTech M&A market is regaining momentum, but under fundamentally changed dynamics. Capital has become more selective, strategic buyers are increasingly dominating transaction processes, and single-point solutions are losing relevance despite strong growth. This snapshot highlights a clear shift toward scalable SaaS platforms with recurring revenues, deep workflow integration, and strong data foundations. Buy-and-build strategies remain the primary growth lever for investors, while AI-enabled platforms combining operational data and automation capabilities are commanding increasing strategic premiums. As recent transactions such as the Consigli deal demonstrate, valuation is no longer driven by revenue alone, but by a company’s role within future platform ecosystems. As a result, well-positioned platforms benefit from an attractive exit environment, while demand for mid-market add-on acquisitions remains strong.
