On the 18th July 2006, M. DuMont Schauberg group (MDS) announced the acquisition of 50% of the shares plus one voting right of Druck- und Verlagshaus Frankfurt am Main GmbH from Deutsche Druck- und Verlagsgesellschaft mbH (dd_vg.), the media holding of the German Social Democratic Party (SPD). dd_vg. retaines 40% of the shares, with the foundation Karl-Gerold-Stiftung holding the remaining 10%. The transaction is subject to approval by the German Federal Cartel Office.
